Another day, another anti-Chicago Bears piece of content. This time it’s from ESPN, who carved out a path for every team to potentially win the Super Bowl in 2022.
Unfortunately for the Bears, their chances at winning the “Big Game” are the worst in the NFL, according to ESPN’s Football Power Index. Just how bad are they? ESPN says the Bears have a less than 1% chance of winning it all, 0.5% to be exact.
Still, in the spirit of ESPN’s breakdown, they had to at least try to imagine a scenario in which the Bears make a playoff run.
“The Bears aren’t making the Super Bowl. But even here, in the most unlikely of scenarios, it’s not impossible to carve out their path,” ESPN’s Bill Barnwell wrote. “The Packers have been dominant in the NFC North under coach Matt LaFleur, but they can’t defy their point differential forever.
The Carolina Panthers, Seattle Seahawks, and New York Giants, according to ESPN, have a better chance at winning the Super Bowl than Chicago. Baker Mayfield? Geno Smith? Daniel Jones? Really??
In the infamous words of former coach Matt Nagy, that’s where we’re at right now. And until the Chicago Bears win some early-season games, they’ll continue to be doubted by writers and major media outlets across the league.
