Bears TE Gerald Everett placed on non-football injury list (News)
Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bears signed veteran tight end Gerald Everett in free agency this offseason with the hope he’d provide a playmaking complement to Cole Kmet in Shane Waldron’s offense.

We’ll just have to wait another day or two (or more) before we see him in action.

Everett was placed on the Bears’ non-football injury list to begin training camp, something that often occurs when a veteran player fails his conditioning test.

Everett signed a two-year, $12 million contract with the Bears in March after two seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers. He totaled 109 catches for 966 yards and seven touchdowns for the Bolts.

I fully expect Everett to be on the practice field with the rest of the team on Saturday, if not soon thereafter.
