Caleb Williams throws shade at Troy Aikman after big win
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams had some fun at Troy Aikman’s expense after Monday night’s big win over the Washington Commanders.
The Chicago Bears came up with a massive road win Monday night over the Washington Commanders, thanks in large part to an impressive performance from second-year quarterback Caleb Williams.
Despite playing through driving rain and sloppy conditions, Williams completed 17 of his 29 pass attempts for 259 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions, adding another score on the ground in a 25-24 victory.
Many Bears fans noticed that throughout the night, ESPN “Monday Night Football” analyst Troy Aikman didn’t seem terribly impressed with Williams’ performance. The Hall of Fame quarterback was overly critical of Williams, and seemed to chalk up his best plays to lucky breaks.
Williams must have noticed, because he appeared to give Aikman a nod with his postgame Instagram post:
Aikman obviously has a ton of accolades to hang his hat on from his own playing days, and Bears fans are hopeful that Williams can eventually lead them to multiple championships like Aikman did for the Dallas Cowboys.
But in the meantime, Williams has the Bears on a three-game winning streak after an 0-2 start, and his rare talent is putting Chicago in position to win games every week.
Maybe next time Aikman has the chance to analyze what Williams and the Bears are doing, he’ll be a little more charitable.
