Caleb Williams approaching historic, elusive Bears record
Caleb Williams is close to etching his name into the Chicago Bears’ record books in a big way this week.
In the long, storied history of the legendary Chicago Bears, no quarterback has ever passed for 4,000 yards in a single season.
When the Bears made Caleb Williams the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the expectation was that he would quickly become the first player to hit that mark.
Heading into the final week of the regular season, Williams needs just 270 yards this week to hit that number in his second season:
Williams struggled through a roller-coaster of a rookie season under Matt Eberflus and a sub-par coaching staff, but he’s flourishing in Ben Johnson’s first year as head coach.
Obviously, the Bears will be focused on getting the win Sunday against the Detroit Lions to secure the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoff race. But you can bet that Williams will be aware of his opportunity to top 4,000 yards, making some Bears history in the process.
